Who we are

Idolingo is a Korean course from KOOQIE P.C. Registered office: [registered address pending]. For privacy and personal data (GDPR), write to privacy@kooqie.com.

Who it is for

Idolingo is for people aged 13 and older. Setup asks for a birth year and stops if that year means you are under 13. We do not open an account for someone under 13. The birth year stays on the device. The name you choose is a nickname, not your legal name.

What stays on the device

The phone keeps your nickname, birth year, study goal, language, vibration setting, your choice about statistics without your name or email, lesson progress, streak, XP, cards, saved and memorized words, the repetition schedule, song requests you typed, and the last song you opened. This version does not publish a leaderboard and does not show nicknames to other people. Song requests stay on the device. There are no ads.

Account

Signing in is optional. If you do, Supabase emails you a link and a code. We do not ask you to choose a password. While you are signed in, lesson progress is saved in our Supabase project, on the progress row for your user. That row does not include Pro or any other purchase right. Your nickname is not published. Your birth year is not part of that sync. The song catalog is shared and is not your personal data.

Statistics without your name or email

Statistics stay off unless you agree. They also stay off if you gave no birth year, or if you are under 15. A build sends them only when it contains a statistics key. The default destination is eu.i.posthog.com. The events sent today are lesson_complete (which lesson, whether it was the first time, how much XP) and paywall_view (which offer was open). The id is a random value stored on the device. We do not send your name, email, or birth year with those events. Each event asks PostHog not to derive a location from the IP address ($geoip_disable). We do not collect coarse location. If the key is missing, nothing is sent. You turn them on or off in Profile, with the Usage statistics switch.

Video

Song videos play inside the app with the YouTube player. Idolingo does not download the video or the audio. Google’s privacy policy and YouTube’s terms cover that playback.

Purchases

On iPhone, Pro is sold only as an Apple In-App Purchase. On Android, it is sold through Google Play. Prices differ by country: the price that applies is the one shown in the store before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID, or to your Google Play account on Android, at confirmation of purchase. Monthly has no free trial and renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period, in App Store or Google Play account settings. Yearly is charged once a year (the app may also show a per-month amount computed from the store price) and includes a 7-day free trial when the store offers it. After the trial, the store charges the yearly price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. A later renewal is also cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, from those same account settings. Lifetime is one purchase, with no trial and no renewal. The same price screen on the public web page does not charge you. Restore asks the store. RevenueCat keeps the purchase history. Idolingo does not keep a copy of the receipt on the progress row. Deleting the account does not cancel a store subscription.

Deletion

In Profile, Delete account asks you to confirm. If you are signed in, the app asks our server to delete your Supabase user and the progress and leaderboard rows for that user. The service credential stays on the server and is not in the app. The shared song list is not deleted. The app then clears the data on this device. If you are not signed in, the same control clears only the data on this device. If the server step fails, the data stays and the app says the deletion did not finish.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of the personal data we hold, and you can object or withdraw the statistics choice. Use the contact email, or delete the account in the app. You can also complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr).

How long we keep it

On the device, the nickname, birth year, study goal, language, vibration setting, statistics choice, lesson progress, streak, XP, cards, saved and memorized words, repetition schedule, song requests, and the last song you opened stay until you delete the account in Profile or clear the app. This app does not apply a shorter timer.

The account email and the progress row in Supabase stay until you delete the account. Deletion removes the Supabase user, the progress row, and the leaderboard row. The shared song catalog is not your personal data and is not deleted.

Statistics without your name or email, when you have agreed, are sent to eu.i.posthog.com. This app does not set a retention period of its own for them. Turning statistics off stops new events. Events already sent are kept for the period that processor describes.

The store receipt and the subscription stay with Apple or Google, and with RevenueCat. Deleting the Idolingo account does not cancel the subscription and does not delete that receipt. Those services keep it for the period they describe.

Why we may use it

The course, the optional account, and syncing progress are the service you asked for (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).

The birth year stays on the device so the app can apply the 13+ rule. That is a legitimate interest in offering Idolingo only to people aged 13 and older (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). It is not sent with statistics.

Statistics without your name or email run only with your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)). They stay off if you refuse, if there is no birth year, or if you are under 15.

A purchase is the contract with the store (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)). The store keeps the receipt it is required to keep. Idolingo does not keep a copy of that receipt as a purchase right on your progress row.

Who else processes it

Supabase processes the account email and the progress row when you sign in, and deletes them when you delete the account. Project wvotxafbzrisddcspnig is in region eu-central-1 (Frankfurt, EU).

RevenueCat processes the store purchase and whether Pro is active. RevenueCat is a US company and processes that purchase in the United States. The transfer safeguard is not confirmed: [RevenueCat transfer safeguard — pending].

Expo and EAS build and deliver the app in the United States. The app does not send your account, progress, purchases, or statistics to Expo, so updates and builds do not process Idolingo user personal data.

Statistics, only when a statistics key is in the build and you have agreed, go to eu.i.posthog.com (PostHog EU Cloud). YouTube plays the video under Google’s privacy policy. We do not send YouTube your Idolingo account.

Where a processor is outside the EU, this policy names the transfer safeguard only after it is confirmed. Until then, the open item stays visible in the text.
